Four more cannabis retail store applications are going before Kamloops city council next week.
Development services director Marvin Kwiatkowski says the latest shops are located at 111 Oriole Road in Valleyview, 1055 Hillside Drive in Aberdeen, 125 4th Avenue downtown and 685 Tranquille Road on the North Shore.
“We’ve got two that are not kind of I guess where the concentration of stores are at this point in time. So that’s I guess good to see, that was a concern, as far as the clustering goes, at the last council meeting when the cannabis applications came up,” Kwiatkowski says, referencing discussion at council on Jan. 30 on a private cannabis store on Tranquille Road.
“So we’re up to 14 officially now that will be coming to council. I think we’ve got a couple more that will be submitted as well, but officially 14.”
Kwiatkowski says he expects the city will be up to 20 retail cannabis applications in short order.
So far only one of the 10 cannabis stores that Kamloops council have supported has opened.
Council will decide whether or not to support the applications at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
