Five people were arrested after a three-month drug trafficking investigation near Kamloops.
Vernon RCMP carried out search warrants recently at a home in Pinantan Lake and two homes in Vernon.
Mounties seized a large amount of drugs including fentanyl, meth, and cocaine, as well as weapons cash and items for drug trafficking.
Two men, aged 25 and 50, were first arrested in Vernon on Dec. 14.
Then on Jan. 25, a 65-year old man and a 54-year old woman were arrested in Vernon. Another 37-year-old woman was arrested at her Pinantan Lake home the same day.
Const. Kelly Brett with the Vernon RCMP wasn’t immediately available to comment.
“This was a very successful investigation targeting a group from the street level dial a dope dealer to the person we believe responsible for bringing drugs into the Vernon area,” Sgt. David Evans says.
“Fentanyl and the impact it has on the community remains a top priority for the detachment.”
The five people arrested have been released but police are continuing to investigate and will be requesting charges.
