The Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (KSO) has found a home for its March Performances after the indefinite closure of the Sagebrush Theatre.
Executive Director Kathy Humphreys says Oasis Church at 1205 Rogers Way will host them next month.
“That church is formerly known as the Calvary Community Church,” she said. “I’m sure most people are actually familiar with the building, just maybe not the new name.”
“So, on March 8 and 9, KSO at the Movies will be performed there and we have contingency plans in place for the rest of the season as well.”
Oasis Church is the backup venue for performances in April and May as well, in the event repairs at Sagebrush Theatre aren’t completed.
“For now until we know for sure, we are holding off on really confirming the location for the rest of the performances,” added Humphreys. “If Sagebrush Theatre reopens, we’ll go back there, of course.”
“If not, then we have this other arrangement in place.”
Single ticket sales have resumed, with Humphreys adding the church has a similar capacity compared to Sagebrush Theatre, of around 700 people.
“One of my big concerns was the loss of ticket sale revenue if we ended up going to a place that had fewer seats than what we’re used to,” noted Humphreys, on the new venue. “That would have really been a blow to our revenue projections if that had happened.”
KSO won’t be adding any more shows, given the similar seating capacities.
As for current ticket holders, they’ll be contacted with the details about the performances, parking, and other logistics.
