Kamloops RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision on Westsyde Road last night, at McQueen Drive.
A southbound Toyota Corolla crossed the centre line and struck a Hyundai Elantra.
There was one person in the Toyota, and two people in the Hyundai – all three were taken to the hospital.
The passenger in the Hyundai has critical injuries.
Police say that according to witnesses, the Toyota was driving erratically just before the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.

Kamloops RCMP say that Westsyde Road is back open after a two-vehicle collision.
Three people – all Kamloops residents – were taken to Royal Inland Hospital, two with serious injuries.
No other details were immediately available.
Police are urging drivers to be careful when driving during the area as the roadway had to be cleaned.
Staff Sgt. Victor Steinhammer says another vehicle failed to obey the flag people and other officers on scene, but eventually was stopped and given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition.
