The Fraser-Nicola MLA says the provincial budget does little to support job creation on her riding.
Jackie Tegart says during the budget speech, she was disappointed in saying it took more than half an hour to hear any mention of natural resources.
“When I look through the budget documents I see very little for agricultural, for mining, for forestry. All those things that provide the good paying jobs in our area,” she says.
“I think we know that natural resources are incredibly important to the economy of British Columbia. I don’t see any incentives, and support, and plan for expansion around natural resources and how we can expand job creation in those areas.”
Tegart says there were positives in the budget, including more money for foster care and for people with disabilities, but she says she’s concerned about how some of the initiatives are going to be paid for.
