The Kamloops Law Courts
A trial began today in Kamloops Supreme Court for a man accused in a killing outside a North Shore bar more than two years ago.
James David Bond was charged with manslaughter in the death of Sean Dunn on Dec. 30, 2016, when Dunn was found unconscious on Wood Street near Tranquille Road.
In his opening remarks to the jury, Crown prosecutor Oliver Potestio claimed the fatal incident happened not long after Dunn and Bond left The Duchess night club in of a group of five people.
Potestio claims Bond was upset by gestures to his girlfriend by Dunn while at The Duchess, and says Dunn had invited them to his home to continue partying.
While walking down Wood Street, the Crown claims Dunn and Bond became separated behind the group before alleging Bond beat Dunn to death on the street.
RCMP Const. Matthew Reddeman says in his witness testimony that he arrived at the scene shortly after being called and found Dunn lifeless on the street, with severe injuries to his face that appeared to be caused by blunt force.
The trial for Bond is expected to conclude by the end of next week. He remains out of custody after being released on bail in June of 2017.
More to come.
