The Kamloops Thompson Teachers Association will soon have a new President.
Amanda Jensen-LaBar will be vacating the President’s position to return as a teacher to the classroom.
She will be replaced by current first Vice President Laurel Macpherson, while Darcy Martin, who’s a teacher in the school district will assume the position as First VP.
Jensen-LaBar says the district is still facing challenges.
“I think there’s a lot of work to be done on capital projects,” she said. “I’m thankful for the work that the district has done on addressing our capital project needs.”
“I’m very happy with the work our executive committee and our former table officers have done to address capital projects. I’m glad just recently, parents are coming on board to lend their voice to that. I think every day we’re getting a little bit closer.”
However, she notes, there is still lots of work to be done.
“We continue to work with the district on issues with class size and composition,” she added. “We continue to work on issues that arise with curriculum implementation.”
Jensen-LaBar has served four years at the helm of the KTTA since taking over from past-President David Komljenovic.
