At Monday night’s School Board meeting, the School District 73’s business company paid a big dividend.
Former longtime School District Superintendent Terry Sullivan sits on the business company board and presented a cheque of $100,000.
“It’s been a work in progress, but this first $100,000 cheque to the School District,” he said. “I trust, will be the first of many.”
“I believe that, and the company now has $1.1-million in retained earnings and so it’s going to build on that. It’s a unique practice, and it’s was done here, and I don’t think anyone else has done it.”
Sullivan says it is the business company’s responsibility to raise the money and the school board is responsible for allocating the money to where it is needed.
“They know where the needs are, and they know how best to expend that money,” he added.
The business company was created in 2006 and it caters to online learning for international students.
