Kamloops Council has put its final stamp on the supplemental budget list arriving at a final property tax increase figure.
City Finance Director Kathy Humphrey says Council approved 12 of the 13 items on the supplemental budget list.
“The tax increase is now at 2.96% including the supplemental items because many of the items that council approved are coming from funding sources that are not taxation. So from our reserves, from gaming funds, from community work funds, and other types of funding sources.”
Council has yet to vote on the increase.
Humphrey says the only one item on the supplemental budget list didn’t make it.
“Everything is moving forward with the exception of the community request that we update the Centennial Park building, which staff was not recommending that we do any way. Everything else is approved. Council decided to increase the active transportation allotment to one of the other options that was in the plan. So I think it is $950,000 that they are going to put towards active transportation to move the plan to be covered off in 15 years instead of 25.”
Among the items approved is half a percent to manage all city capital assets, money for the Stuart Wood Cultural Centre, and monies for the Kamloops Fire and Rescue Training Centre.
