The City of Kamloops is working with the Kamloops-Thompson School District on traffic safety changes on Westsyde Road, outside the soon-to-be re-opened elementary school.
Ken Christian says school zone signs, a speed limit reduction, and traffic calming initiatives will be in place outside Westsyde Elementary when a new school year begins in September.
Speaking on the Woodford Show, he says the city has committed to work with the school board.
“We had a joint meeting with the city council and the school board last week and this was one of the items that came up. We have had some really good success working with them around Westmount school and we anticipate the same will happen with Westsyde Elementary school. That is further out on Westsyde road with less traffic volumes.”
Christian says there may be other changes as well with city transportation engineers currently studying the situation.
