The MLA for Kamloops North is not buying what Attorney General Dave Eby is selling.
Peter Milobar rebuffs Eby’s charge he and Todd Stone are playing politics after the BCLC replacement headquarters project was scrapped saying instead they are doing their jobs as MLAs in standing up for the community.
And he adds if the Attorney General things they are going to stop he has another thing coming.
As for efforts by Eby to provide assurances there is no leakage from the BCLC Kamloops headquarters to the coast and in fact the movement is entirely the other direction Milobar is also not sold.
“When you look at the job openings and that no there is not a move to Kamloops en mass. It is heavily replacing Vancouver people in Vancouver, which is fine I understand that. For the minister to not understand why we would be saying if it so attractive here why are you not expanding? Why are you not trying to move those jobs to Kamloops willfully? None of that seems to be happening.”
He says they have a reason to be skeptical of Eby’s claims noting he said last summer the BCLC headquarters replacement project was on track, only to see it shelved.
Both Milobar and Stone have sharply criticized the headquarters decision and raised concerns about BCLC staff leaking from Kamloops to the lower mainland.
Both MLAs will be touring the Kamloops BCLC headquarters and the corporation’s Vancouver offices in a fact finding mission next month.
