A $1.4-million-dollar retrofit of municipal hall in Logan Lake is now expected to be done at the end of April.
CAO Randy Lambright points out the original timeline was late December which was then pushed back to the end of March.
“The economy’s actually running really hot right now, as a lot of people probably know that. The contractor had a difficult time in terms of resourcing, both in terms of materials as well as in terms of employees of sub contractors to be able to come up here,” Lambright says.
“When we’re into a retrofit type of a building, as opposed to a new-build construction, you bump into different things that you never anticipated, because they were hidden behind walls and things of that nature. So then you have to make decisions on the go that are not necessarily planned.”
Lambright says the retrofit does remain on budget despite the delays.
The project will see the former firehall used as the new council chambers and as the new home for the Wellness, Health and Youth (WHY) program. The fire department moved into a new $3.2-million-dollar facility last year.
“That’s certainly our hope that we’re able to get into the offices and things of that nature prior to our tax season started, which is about mid May,” Lambright says.
