Kamloops RCMP say a man was assaulted in his room at the Acadian Motor Inn in the 13-hundred block of Columbia today.

RCMP Corporal Jodi Shelkie says just before one this afternoon police were waved down by the man who says two men, one of them with a knife, entered his room demanding his wallet.

“There was physical altercation between the victim and the suspect after which the suspects fled the scene. Luckily our officers were able to locate one of the suspects and took him into custody without incident. The victim was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with minor injuries. The suspect is 33 years old, and is from Kamloops, and is previously known to police.”

Shelkie says officers are working to identify and track down the second suspect.
