For the the 20th month in a row, British Columbia has led the way with lowest unemployment rate of any province at 4.7 percent
Even though the jobless rate is slightly higher in Kamloops at 5.2 percent, it’s down dramatically than the 10.3 it was a year ago
Minister of Jobs, Trade and technology, Bruce Ralston says most of the new jobs are in the private sector.
“Hourly wages continue to increase, which I think is a reflection of the low unemployment rate where employers are raising the rates they pay in order to attract and keep people in the jobs that they have”
He credits the diversity of the area’s economy to the addition in jobs.
Ralston also added “The Kamloops Innovation Centre is generating new companies with new ideas.”
