A Kamloops woman is facing charges after she was caught driving recklessly in the Central Okanagan on Saturday.
It all started when a red Ford F-150 sped past an unrelated traffic stop with another vehicle south of Peachland on Highway 97.
Police say there were also reports about an attempted car-jacking in Peachland, believed to be the work of the suspect.
Officers were able to catch up to the Ford truck once again, now driving below the speed limit, as it was heading south towards Summerland.
Police were able to surround the truck after the woman unknowingly waved at an unmarked cop car to go around her.
“Our officers were forced to box the suspect vehicle in, after the driver attempted to reverse and flee,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, in a media release. “Thankfully, no one was injured during the unfolding of each of the events.”
Once boxed in, the woman in the truck tried to escape out of the passenger window, but was caught nearby.
A police investigation is ongoing, and O’Donaghey adds drug paraphernalia was found in the truck and a drug recognition expert was called in.
Charges haven’t yet been laid, and the woman is expected in court at a later date.
