A monument dedicated to the many volunteers who helped out during the 2017 wildfire evacuations will be unveiled in Kamloops today.
The TNRD board voted to spend up to $100,000 on a piece of public art to commemorate their efforts.
The “Lend a Hand” monument will be unveiled at 11 a.m. in the plaza outside Sandman Centre, which housed thousands of evacuees.
The monument was designed by Lee-Anne Chisholm and Aaron Harder.
They will be in attendance along with TNRD chair Ken Gillis, Mayor Ken Christian, MP Cathy McLeod, MLAs Todd Stone and Peter Milobar, as well as emergency support services volunteer Gord Davis.
