Police are investigating after a woman was killed in a fatal weekend collision on Highway 97D near the Highland Valley Ranch, about 10 km east of Logan Lake.
A grey Acura Integra went down an embankment, and the crash scene wasn’t wasn’t visible from the highway.
The lone female driver was ejected from her vehicle and police say she died at the scene. She has been identified and her family notified.
Cpl Mike Halskov say there were no witnesses and the crash scene was found by an area resident on Saturday morning.
“Police believe the collision occurred sometime between Friday, April 12 and when the site was discovered shortly before 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13,” he said.
“An area resident that was out patrolling his land came across the incident, and had been there the day before. There was no collision at that time, and that’s why we were able to narrow down the time frame.”
Halskov adds police are not sure if the driver was killed immediately after the collision or if time played a factor.
“At this time, it looks like a lack of seat belt use and possibly impairment are believed to be contributing factors to this collision,” he said.
The RCMP Central Interior Traffic Services (CITS) and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.
Police are asking anyone who might have information and dash cam video of the incident to call CITS in Kamloops at (250) 828-3111 and quote file 2019-1657.
