B.C.’s Attorney General has approved a request from the mayor of Kamloops for a tour of the city’s BC Lottery Corporation headquarters.
Ken Christian says council put pen to paper to get some assurances after the decision to scrap plans to build a new downtown BCLC headquarters.
“We had written to Minister [David] Eby to express concern that the project for the rebuild was on pause,” he said. “We wanted some assurance that the organic growth of BCLC was going to be accommodated here in Kamloops.”
“We didn’t want to see any migration of jobs out of the city. He wrote us back assuring us that Kamloops was, is, and will be the headquarters for BCLC.”
Ken Christian wants a tour of the Kamloops BCLC headquarters to have a look see and to ensure that any need for additional office space will remain downtown.
He says there is empty downtown office space close to the BCLC headquarters that could accommodate staff growth.
Both Kamloops MLAs Todd Stone and Peter Milobar had requested a similar tour, and say it added to their concerns.
