A 72-hectare prescribed burn will go ahead sometime before May 17 in the Place Lake area, if weather and other conditions are suitable.
The BC Wildfire Service says smoke from this burn may be visible in nearby communities.
It’s about 36 kilometres south of Williams Lake, west of Place Lake and east of Akali Lake.
They say this prescribed burn is part of an ongoing ecosystem restoration program through the Cariboo-Chilcotin Ecosystem Restoration Committee.
In a release, the service says the planning was done in consultation with First Nations, local ranchers, forest licensees, outdoors organizations, the Fraser Basin Council, the B.C. Wildlife Federation, and the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society.
