Mounties have confirmed that a motorcyclist was killed near Sicamous yesterday after a head-on crash with a semi truck.
RCMP Traffic Services spokesperson Corporal Mike Halskov says the victim was a 53-year-old woman who was from the area, who he says died at the crash scene.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. in Malakwa, and forced the Trans-Canada Highway to be closed for several hours.
“There’s going to be more motorcycles on the road now as summer approaches. We’re just asking motorists to be especially vigilant, to keep an eye out for motorbikes and to give them the space they need… We’re sad to see this happen again, and we just want to remind all motorcyclists as well to take care.”
Halskov says the cause of the crash is still being investigated, but he says criminality was not a factor in the crash.
