The KCBIA was the recipient of three Best in the West merit awards at the BIA BC conference in Surrey last week.
They were given an award for their Sustainability and Coffee program, the brainchild of CAP team Supervisor Alexis Proulx.
“We’re using a lot of single use coffee cups at the various coffee places throughout the city,” said Executive Director Carl DeSantis. “We had coffee mugs developed that are multiple use coffee mugs with coupons inside so people could get free coffee.”
“It was a great program and we’re really happy that it went over well, and we’re looking forward to doing it again.”
DeSantis noted that he is proud of the award they got for video marketing Downtown Kamloops.
“We worked with a group – New Parallel Productions – young fellows Jared Putnam and Ian Brink. I’ll tell you what those guys did for us was phenomenal,” DeSantis added. “There were two different videos both about 40 seconds or so. One there was some different speaking parts from a variety of people downtown, and the other was just a fast paced, fun representation of downtown.”
The third award was for the expansion of the CAP team onto the Kamloops North Shore.
At the conference, DeSantis was also nominated to the BIA BC Board of Directors, where he says he’ll be supporting the interests of all the different BIA members for the province.
Proud to accept these #BIABC2019 awards on behalf of my #DowntownKamloops Team. Each of them deserve all of the recognition for their efforts and initiative. Thank you Alexis, Paola, Karla, and our entire CAP Team. #Kamloops @dtkamloops #KCBIA pic.twitter.com/JlnGW7630y
