The Kamloops Thompson Teachers Association is calling this year’s school district budget exciting but they are also a little perplexed at being left out of the process.
Union President Amanda Jensen-LaBar welcomes a budget about addition and not the usual subtraction and layoffs but notes the KTTA has been left out of the loop.
“We were invited to a board budget meeting and we were able to ask some questions around the budget for next year. This is the first year that we haven’t received a response to our questions. Particularly some of the things that we raised were some questions around why we are not seeing an increase to staffing and student support services.”
Jensen-LaBar says the KTTA wants to know why budget dollars were allocated the way they were.
“We are very concerned that some of our input we feel has not been considered.”
Jensen-LaBar says the union will reach out to the district again on getting some answers
