This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and time for the annual Grasslands clean up.
Cleaning up Mother Earth on Mother’s Day, is something the Kamloops Naturalist Club has been doing for four years now.
It’s focused again at the Dewdrop Plateau past the airport towards Red Lake on Red Lake road.
Mandy Ross of the club says it’s an area that needs attention. “Well, there’s been a lot of parties and fires and lot’s of people go out and dump garbage there. So, it’s been really bad in the past.”
Ross adds, “In our first year we picked up more than 20,000 pounds of garbage.”
Ross says the amount of garbage has gone down every year to 12 thousand last year and they’re hoping for 500 this year.
It takes place from 9:30-1:30.
