The BC Wildfire Service says there is a 2.28 hectare wildfire burning at the Savona Dump.
It sparked yesterday, May 8, and it’s believed to be another human caused fire.
Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius says that fire is under control.
“It was a smoldering ground fire so we weren’t seeing a significant amount of flame on that, but we did have six crew members respond yesterday,” she said.
“There are six people back on site today and they’re just doing some final mop up and patrol out there to make sure there’s no remaining hotspots.”
Crews are hoping to have that fire extinguished later today.
There are also a couple of smaller fires in the Cariboo Fire Centre.
A 2 hectare blaze is burning at Deka Lake, east of 100 Mile House. There’s also a 0.01 hectare fire at Hodgson Road, southwest of Williams Lake.
Both of those fires too are believed to be human caused.
