The City of Kamloops has announced free transit for three events later this year, in May, July and August.
The first is during Bike to Work week from May 27 to June 2, where residents are being urged to bike or ride the bus to work.
People who have their bike or bike helmet will be able to ride the bus for free.
“We recognize that the terrain in Kamloops can be challenging,” said Cheryl Fraser, the City’s Transit Planner. “This is a great opportunity for residents who have been thinking about trying a bike/transit combo—it’s a complimentary ride home.”
All of the city’s buses will also be free on Canada Day as well as during Kamloops Ribfest from August 9 to 11.
“Transit will be free to all users of the system in Kamloops during Canada Day and Ribfest, regardless of the route they are taking. We hope to encourage ridership, decrease road congestion and offer an alternative transportation choice,” Fraser added.
