The mayor of Kamloops has finally has the meeting he has been demanding with the CEO of the Land Title and Survey Authority over the removal of local land title records.
Ken Christian says he took the city’s concerns to CEO Connie Fair who told him the disruption over the removal of land title records will soon subside and it will be back to business as usual.
What about the lack of consultation not only with the city but also with area First Nations over a decision that was made last fall?
“I asked that question and I think consultation with communities is front of there mind now,” he said. “This project had been going on since as early as 2005 and they really hadn’t seen much opposition to it until it was raised by city council and local First Nations here. So they are addressing that.”
He says the records will be digitized with portals allowing access at the local office and a much faster records request turn around.
