British Columbians are paying more than anyone else in North America for a litre of gas and the question on everybody’s mind is, why?
The British Columbia Utilities Commission has been called upon to answer that question.
Chair and CEO of the BCUC David Morton says they want to talk to anyone that can help provide the answer. “We have reached out publicly and invited companies to participate so we’re hoping the combination of voluntary responses and if there are people that we feel that have something to contribute that haven’t volunteered, we will reach out to them and invite them to join also.”
The Horgan government has said they won’t allow the subject of taxes in the report.
Morton thinks the reason could be that gas taxes are “relatively stable” compared to the up and down price at the pump.
