A developer is planning a housing project on part of the former rodeo grounds property in Ashcroft.
Mayor Barbara Roden says the first phase of the development would be 50 single-family home lots, just off Highway 97C and Government Street.
“It’s a very exciting proposal, it’s in the very early stages. I’ve been meeting with the developers, and (last month) they held a community meeting. They’ve stressed all along that they want to work with the community to develop housing that the community wants, and needs. They wanted to get people on board right from the beginning and start getting that feedback right from the start.”
Roden says the housing project will be the first of its kind in the village since the mid 1990s.
She says the large-scale project will complement vacant land in town owned by the village, in the Sage Mesa subdivision, that is planned to be turned into housing.
