An RCMP member from Kelowna is in hospital with serious injuries following a crash with a semi trailer truck.

It happened just after 6:00 PM Monday along highway 33 east of the city.

Crews had to use the jaws of life to get the officer out.

His injuries are not life threatening, the driver of the semi was taken to hospital as a precaution.

His K-9 partner was safely pulled from the wreckage and was taken to a veterinarian.

The road was closed for several hours as investigators tried figure out what happened.
