There’s good news and bad news for the BC Wildfire Service this morning.
First the good news, the fire near Stump Lake is under control at 1.6 hectares.
Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald says they’ve got three personnel on scene today.
“So our three personnel out there will probably be patrolling within the fire perimeter for hotspots and putting those out,” she said.
The bad news, MacDonald adds is another wildfire near Squilax Mountain, which is burning out of control at 0.8 hectares.
“Four BCWS personnel responding currently and we had fire crews action it overnight as well,” she added. “It is in steep terrain for our crews so we do have our bird dog attending to do an assessment from the air this morning.”
At this point, MacDonald says the fire is visible from the highway, but she’s not anticipating any structures to be at risk.
