Ebus has applied for approval to add two new routes that would both benefit Kamloops.
The first route will head towards Kelowna adding service to Chase, Sorrento, Salmon Arm, Enderby, and Armstrong.
Director of Business Development John Stepovy says he’s looking forward to the other route from Kamloops to Prince George, up Highway 97, stopping in Cache Creek, 70 Mile House, 100 Mile House, Lac La Hache, Williams Lake, Quesnel, and Hixon.
“There certainly was a gap in service and you know with us operating the BC Bus North service, we though this was a great opportunity to connect northern British Columbians to the Interior, Lower Mainland and beyond,” he said.
“And the Salmon Arm extension, same thing. Lots of community interest and good opportunity with just slightly extending our current route.”
At this point, Stepovy says they are working on stop locations, schedules and prices, with the plan to launch service as soon as possible after getting approval from the Passenger Transportation Board.
“The transportation board has the application out and open to the public for feedback and letters of support and things like that,” added Stepovy. “And from there, hopefully a decision shortly thereafter. So, you know a few weeks from now, we’re quite hopeful to get our feedback.”
Stepovy says they hope to get buses on the road a couple of weeks after a favourable decision from the PTB.
