The Toronto Raptors can win their first ever NBA title at home tonight, and sports bar across the country are hoping to cash in.
Shark Club Kamloops spokesperson Vadym Nosov says he is expecting a full house tonight with over 200 people in attendance, and he’s trying to ensure they are prepared to meet the demand.
“Lots of fans have been following the Raptors and it has been growing. We’ve seen some hardcore fans from the beginning of this journey and obviously right now, that they are doing great, we are seeing more and more traffic, bringing their colleagues and friends to be part of history, I guess,” he said.
“Everybody is excited to witness this.”
Nosov says Raptors fever is alive and well in Kamloops, with the Toronto – Milwaukee series another busy one for his establishment pointing out the Raptors have helped bring in the crowds after another underwhelming season for Canadian NHL teams.
In fact, Nosov says the crowds they’ve seen are similar to the late season push for the playoffs by the Blazers in March.
“With the Blazers, it’s obviously people that have been truly Blazers fans from our community,” he added. “In terms of Raptors, we’re also attracting tourists that are passing through, but we are also attracting TRU students, and anybody who is really into sports, into basketball.”
Tip off for the Game 5 between the Raptors and the Golden State Warriors is set for 6 p.m. tonight.
