The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a cluster of spot fires near Chimney Lake, west of Lac La Hache.

Fire Information Officer Erin Bull says the fires are all suspected to be lightning caused at this point.

“We had aircraft assess these fires and crews are attending and mobilizing again today. We’ve established Fire C20531 [highlighted on the picture above] is our highest priority, it’s about 55km north west of 100 Mile House.”

That fire – like all others in the area – is currently mapped at 0.01 hectares, but Bull says they are currently burning out of control.

Seventeen firefighters are responding today, tackling the fires in a priority sequence.
