A Kamloops councillor says staff time put into a single-use plastic ban is still worthwhile if the federal government brings in its own.
Bill Sarai says he hopes the federal plastic ban is not an election ploy and hopes progress is made before October.
Meanwhile, he says the city is making real progress on a draft bylaw to ban plastics, which is expected to be before city council next month.
“And I think the Chamber of Commerce and Kamloops are doing a really good job at getting the business community on board to see how it will affect them and what they can do to get in front of this issue.”
Sarai says Canada-wide rules to ban single-use plastics would make sense and he hopes that is a sincere pitch from the feds.
