A local councillor is looking for Recycle BC to take some products from the Kamloops area.
Kathy Sinclair will bring up a motion next week, which in essence will lobby the province to make sure packaging and paper products can be taken from commercial, industrial and institutional businesses in Kamloops.
She says the goal is to keep more items out of landfills.
“Recycle BC has gone back on their offer to take ICI [industrial, commercial, institutional] recycling. And in a city like Kamloops, the TNRD and other regions – particularly away from the metro Vancouver area – that leaves nobody else to fill that role.”
Sinclair says Recycle BC recently stopped taking many items because it says there aren’t many markets to sell products to be reused.
A motion from Sinclair on the matter will go before Kamloops city council next week.
