Two people were taken into custody after a routine traffic stop on Seymour Street in downtown Kamloops yesterday, June 19 at 2 a.m.
Police say when an officer approached the vehicle he saw a taser and a hunting knife near the centre console of the vehicle.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a 50-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, both from Kamloops, were arrested without incident.
“And then when the vehicle was searched, the officer found two tasers, two cans of bear spray, a collapsible baton, machetes, a hatchet and some knives,” she said.
Shelkie says the woman was released with a future court date and the BC Prosecution will determine if there will be any charges.
“The man was taken into custody to go before a judge, and now he is facing charges of: Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited; Possession of a Dangerous Weapon; and Possession of a Weapon with no Licence,” Shelkie added.
