Canadians who partake in legal cannabis still have a six month wait for the edible version to hit stores and when they do there will be a lot of restrictions and one expert thinks there are far too many.
Dr Sylvain Charlebois, Senior Director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University agrees with limiting things that children may accidentally eat.
He doesn’t agree however, with rules like requiring companies to have a separate building that is built and ready before you can even apply for a licence are too restrictive. “Health Canada doesn’t want any gummie bears which is child friendly which I think is desirable.”
“This is what you want, you want children to be protected but at the same time the frame work or regulations are going so far that it’s just going to discourage any innovation in the food space.”
Dr Charlebois says the tight restrictions will make one group happy, the black market.
