The area director in Cherry Creek says she’s pleased with repair work done to bridges over the creek itself.
The province has spent $3 million to replace bridges at Greenstone Road and Rodeo Drive, and is working still to do the same for a bridge at Beaton Road.
Ronaye Elliott points out all three were washed out by spring flooding in 2017 and 2018.
“The work is very well done. I am sure that over the years it should have been done before but because the creek doesn’t have a habit of becoming a river in the spring I think they just let it go. They are just catching up and I think they have done an excellent job.”
The province says the bridge at Beaton Road will be replaced by the spring of next year.
“I am looking forward to the Beaton one being done because it is a terrible turn on that bridge.”
She says the bridges are much more reinforced than the older ones that were there adding they should survive another flooding event should it happen.
