
There will be lane closures in both directions on the Coquihalla starting tomorrow until the end of October, about 25 kilometres, north of Hope.
Crews will be restoring the 30-year-old Carolin Bridge, with the work involving concrete repairs, bearing replacement, and deck resurfacing.
Work will take place from 8 p.m. on Sundays to 8 a.m. on Friday’s, with an additional counterflow lane for traffic northbound on Friday and Saturday, and southbound traffic on Sunday. The Ministry of Transportation says to accommodate the counterflow lane, travel lanes will be narrowed from 5 metres to 3.8 metres.
Delays in the area can last up to 30 minutes, and drivers are being urged to travel outside of the peak times listed below:
- Southbound: Fridays 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Sundays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; holiday Mondays noon to 6 p.m.
- Northbound: Fridays noon to 4 p.m., or 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on long weekends.
The contract is worth $4.8 million according to the contracts, Dorosh Construction Group.
