A teenage girl from Washington State was the victim of Friday’s fatal head-on crash on the Coquihalla, just south of Kamloops.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed that information to NL News, but did not provide the girl’s name, age or location.

The Coquihalla was closed for several hours while emergency crews were at the crash scene, where a white Prius hit a grey Toyota van head-on.

Mounties in Kamloops say the cause of the crash will probably take months to determine.
