The Kamloops-Thompson School District is looking to create a district plan which would include planning to replace 50 per cent of current schools.
Superintendent Alison Sidow says more immediately, the school district is looking for land to build three schools in Aberdeen – two elementary schools and one high school – and one other in Juniper Ridge.
“We’ve got some challenging discussions ahead of us. The board is looking at having a district plan that will take us 20 or 30 years out,” Sidow says. “We’re working with the city now at securing sites… We’re looking into the future here, but we’re going to need those sites and ultimately the capital dollars for those schools.”
Sidow says within 20 years, the school district will also need a new office and a new maintenance yard.
