The Rockin’ River Fest is coming up and again this August Long weekend, and the music festival is once again full of world class talent to the Nicola Valley.
This is the 10th anniversary of the Merritt festival and as president Kenny Hess says, being connected helps him book the calibre of talent that he does.
“It’s a good old boy thing,” he told Radio NL. “You know so I get a little better buy than most people and we made it where all the artists walk away like Eric Church and Toby Keith and Willie Nelson all of them walk away going, hey guys, you gotta play this festival.”
He says it’s the people that turn out is what makes the festival special.
“The Merritt crowd that comes out and cheers and yells and screams and hollers, they’re the best crowd in the world and I’m not saying that because it’s my festival,” Hess added.
“I’m telling you Eric Church said it. Luke Combs told me last year, he came and put his arms around me and said that was amazing. He said I’ve never seen a crowd that could sing every word of every song I ever did.”
The biggest name this year is Jason Aldean, he headlines Saturday August 3 night. Brett Kissel, Brothers Osbourne, and Old Dominion close the other three nights.
