Update: Highway 97 reopened at 7:15 p.m. according to DriveBC.
As of Tuesday morning, a travel advisory – because of the risk for debris flow – remains in effect for Highway 1 between Juniper Beach and Cache Creek, on Highway 97 from Cache Creek to Loon Lake Road, on Highway 97C from Ashcroft to Boston Flats and on Highway 99 from Hat Creek Ranch to Jackson Road.
____
A mudslide and a continued risk of debris flow forced the closure of Highway 97 from Cache Creek to Clinton.
The conditions are being assessed, but the closure is an expansion to a previous closure between Loon Lake Road and Pavilion Forest Service Road.
Callers to the Radio NL newsroom first notified us about the mudslides and road washouts between Clinton and Cache Creek around 4 p.m.
We’re expecting the next update time from Drive BC at 8:00 p.m.
