The Executive Director of the Mustard Seed Kamloops says work is underway to expand the dental clinic into a Wellness Centre.
Diane Down says that was one of the findings after a review of services following the merger between the Mustard Seed and New Life Community Kamloops.
She says the Wellness Centre will be modelled after a similar facility in Calgary.
“That would mean to some degree being a bit of a hub both for health services as well as advocacy for folks. There’s some services that we already provide, so we are looking to become more of a hub for health services.”
She says some of the services are already being offered in Kamloops.
[CLIP] “If folks need identity – a very common challenge in our city and even in all the other cities that the Mustard Seed serves. We do that. We also have nurses from Interior Health that come to our facility twice a week already.”
Down says the goal is for the Mustard Seed to become a hub for both health services as well as advocacy for people in the community.
She says there will be an announcement made when the Wellness Centre is ready to launch.
