
Update – Drive BC says the highway is open to single lane alternating traffic for the vehicle incident near James Road, west of Tappen.
However, the highway is closed south of Tappen, between Sandy Point Road and 2nd Nations Road. An assessment is in progress, but there is a detour available via Highway 97A and Highway 97.
The highway is expected to soon open to single lane alternating traffic in this area as well.

Original – Four people were taken hospital after a two vehicle crash on the Trans Canada Highway near Tappen.
The highway is closed in both directions at this time, with no detours available.
Communications Officer Shannon Miller says one patient was in a life threatening condition.
“And he’s been airlifted by our BC EHS air ambulance helicopter from the scene,” she said. “One patient was in serious condition and two more in stable condition, and they have gone by paramedic ground ambulances to the hospital.”
The highway is expected to reopen at 6 p.m.
