The Real Estate Market in Kamloops saw a bit of a decline year over year for the month of June.
There was a 20% decline in June, 2019 compared to the same month a year ago. There were 328 sales in June last year, while there were 262 sales last month. Brad Watson of Royal LePage says it’s never a bad thing to see a bit of a correction in the market. “The market is an ever rolling roller-coaster. It goes up, it goes down, and we have a bit of a trend going down. It’s not a bad thing. It means there’s a bit of a correction going on. As long as it doesn’t continue for a long time.”
Watson says although the number of sales dropped, the average price of a home increased. “You want a well established community, nice big home, you turn around and they’re going to be [in the $550,000 to $650,000 range]. But, you can still get into a starter home for four something.”
Watson says when the lower mainland gets their slide, it generally means that the same trend is slowly making its way here.
