As BC Transit looks to go all electric by 2040, the VP of Asset Management says Kamloops has been a trail blazer for low-carbon CNG technology.
Speaking on the NL Morning News, Aaron Lamb says CNG buses have been on Kamloops city streets since 2015, and the whole fleet was converted two years later
“You know when our customers go into our buses, we hope that they take pride that not only are they saving money in their pocket books, but they are actually taking a sustainable form or transportation to get where they need to go.”
Lamb says BC Transit plans to invest in more CNG technology until they start buying electric heavy duty buses in 2023. In 2024, it will buy only electric double-decker buses; only electric light-duty buses such in 2025; and only electric medium-duty 30- and 35-foot buses in 2028.
