The Winnipeg Film Group will be joining Marlene Hibbs for part of her cross-Canada bike ride to raise awareness for mental health services.
The Kamloopsian is continuing her trek across the country and now will have a little extra exposure thanks to a mini-documentary. Hibbs, who is currently in Regina, is very grateful for the attention she’s getting. “We’re bringing in other organizations to feature them, like the big cornerstone organizations of mental health in Canada and we’re going to have them featured within the film… It will cut from me riding, but it’s going to cut to patient stories around the country, and the CEO’s, Presidents and founders of these organizations.”
“I’m going to ride into Manitoba where we’re going to do a media release with the Winnipeg Women’s Film Society and then they’re going to drive me back to the border. Then I’m going to ride across Manitoba for 500 kilometres all at once which we’re going to capture on film. So, I’m going to ride across Manitoba one-and-a-half times.”
Hibbs says the documentary will be released sometime following the October federal election, but snippets will be unveiled before then.
