BC Transit says there were 122 incidents on board busses in Kamloops that were reported by drivers.
Spokesperson Jonathon Dyck says incidents are filmed by CCTV cameras on board, which he says have proven valuable.
He says all 47 full-sized busses in Kamloops are equipped with those cameras.
“People see the cameras, they think twice about doing something that might not be appropriate for the bus. And if something does unfortunately happen on a bus, or involving a bus, then we’re able to back and take a look at the tape and see what happened.”
“I’m not sure what the future holds for the lower-capacity busses, but we have definitely seen the benefits from it, and so we’ll look at technology as we always do, and see what kind of improvements we can make.”
Last year, Dyck says there were 166 incidents reported by drivers in Kamloops for the entire year.
