The Perseid Meteor Shower was visible over the weekend, but an Astronomer at TRU says tonight will be the best night to see it.
Colin Taylor says the shower peaks tonight and tomorrow morning and if we have a dark clear sky it will be a great site to see.
“You don’t need a telescope at all. What you need is a nice easy chair so you can lay back and look at the sky,” he said. “Generally look in the north east direction, that’s where most of the meteors will be coming from.”
Taylor says in the city you might get a view at the beach or one of the parks, but adds it would be best to head a few minutes outside of Kamloops for a better view.
He noted Jupiter and Saturn are also visible right now and a good pair of binoculars or a telescope would allow you to see those in a more detailed light.
Environment Canada is calling for partly cloudy skies and a 30 per cent chance of showers early this evening with lows of 12 C.
